21.3.10 Warrior

This is Sergei. He is an orphan with Down Syndrome on Reece's Rainbow. I have committed to being a 21.3.10 warrior for Sergei.

Reece's Rainbow promotes special needs adoption. One of their primary focuses is getting people involved and aware about orphans with down syndrome and providing opportunities to raise support for their adoption funds.


The 21.3.10 project allows a person to commit to a child with Down Syndrome to try to get as many people as possible to give support (specifically 21$) on behalf of specific children.


March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day, to honor the 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome in Down Syndrome. March Challenge

Hi everybody!

Several months ago I wrote about my blog friend Molly, and her amazing mission on http://thisnextgeneration.blogspot.com/ . Her challenge this month is to follow the Biblical mandate in found in 1 Thessalonians which reads: "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." ~1 Thessalonians 5:11~. She is challenging us to all write 2 letters (to different people), that are missionaries or adoptive families. It's called a Thesis Paper

... and its the result of my blood, sweat and tears for the last five months. Yes, five. Months.

I've learned so incredibly much from this paper, and there is a pretty great back story too, but I have nothing left in me tonight except a tired body, a bad cough, an amazing sense of euphoria, and a 24 page paper!

ps. this is only the first draft of the whole thing (there have been drafts of parts of it), when I'm really done is after my declemation in two weeks. Prepare yourselves for some crazy blog posts!

Love's Lullaby

Lately, I've been fighting back sighs every time I exhale on behalf of the beautiful children on Reece's Rainbow. I'm aching for them, for how much I want to be able to call them my brothers and sisters or one day my children, or watch them thrive adopted by parents in my own home town. How do you deal with such devastating pain (and their pain is so infinitely much greater than any I might feel on their behalf), yet still walk in the joy of the Lord?

a little bit of Wednesday

So, today I was hanging out with Wednesday, and we were detectives defending the city from the Lord of the Spiders. Right. Just your everyday babysitting adventure. Anyway, I chose a catapult to ward of the bad guys, but Wednesday? The old weapons just aren't good enough for her.

Wednesday: "I'll take my knife (it was a plastic toy, folks) and this Rodent Thrower! Its stocked with a million google google thousand million rodents already in there!"

Prestocked Rodent Throwers. Brilliant.

We have no idea...

...the way that God is going to use and bridge relationships in our lives.

Uganda:

was pretty much amazing.

But one of the most amazing things about it I didn't expect in the least. During our week there we visited a little baby cottage called Amani. I had the great priviledge of meeting a sweet little girl there named Josephine. My friend Elle told me that little Josie Love, as she was to be called, was being adopted by another family that lives right in our town! Josie's adoption story is amazing, and I followed her family's blog during the process because I couldn't believe how awesome it was that even though I had never met the family, (and still haven't) God had introduced me to Josie Love half way around the world! Anyway, Josie's big sister, Grace, just wrote an amazing guest post on her mom's blog about what life has been like for her family since Josie has been home. I encourage everyone to go read it at: http://joiningthejourney.blogspot.com/ , and remember that God's plan is so infinetly much bigger and more beautiful than the little peice that we can fit inside our brains.
